57th Macau Grand Prix Race Programme Announced
The 57th Macau Grand Prix will be held from November 18 to 21 this year.  Practice and qualifying sessions will take place on November 18th and 19th (Thursday and Friday), while races are held on November 20th and 21st (Saturday and Sunday).

Macau Grand Prix partners for many years, SJM, CTM and Hotel Fortuna will continue their title sponsorship of three races this year, while the long-term supporter Yokohama returns to Macau as Official Formula 3 Tyre Supplier for the 28th consecutive year.

Eight races will be held this year, including three headline events: The Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix; the FIA World Touring Car Championship - Guia Race of Macau - Presented by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A.; and the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 44th Edition, as well as five support races (the Macau GT Cup, the CTM Macau Touring Car Race, the Macau Road Sport Challenge, the Hotel Fortuna MAC / HKG Interport Race, and Formula BMW Pacific).

The FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup, the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, attracts many talented young single seater drivers, including winners of the different national and regional Formula 3 Championships held across the world. Considered a testing ground for future Formula 1 stars, the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix has nurtured many young stars, including Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button, both Formula 1 World Champions who were on the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix podium in the 1990’s.

For the sixth consecutive year, Macau is included in the FIA World Touring Car Championship calendar. More than 20 of the world’s leading touring car drivers will gather here in Macau for the closing rounds of the 2010 season.  The 2008 champion, Yvan Muller, and 2009 champion, Gabriele Tarquini, currently lead the championship.

International road racing and endurance riders will line-up on the grid for the 44th running of the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Riders from across Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA, including new faces and experienced veterans, will take to the demanding Guia street circuit this November. This year, the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix has become the latest prestigious event to count towards the Duke Road Race Rankings series. The series has run for last eight years, with grading scores weighted to take into account ranking and fastest lap, with the rider with the highest score claiming the title. Other famous races under the series include the Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix.

The exciting support programme for the 57th Macau Grand Prix includes the Macau GT Cup and Macau Road Sport Challenge, both of which are invitational races. The Hotel Fortuna Macau / Hong Kong Interport Race is open to touring car drivers from the neighbouring SARs who have qualified via their respective domestic championships. The CTM Macau Touring Car Race features more than 30 drivers from across Asia competing in Super Production cars.  Formula BMW Pacific this year races in Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore, with the season finale taking place on Macau’s exciting Guia Circuit.  This series represents an ideal stepping stone for young karters to make the transition into the world of international motorsport competition.

The Macau Grand Prix has been rated as one of the “ten top street tracks”, and as one of the “twenty top motorsport events you really shouldn’t miss”, so make sure you come and experience it for yourself!
